As one of the many new features introduced in Diablo 4’s second expansion, Lord of Hatred, Horadric Cube undoubtedly offers you more powerful and diverse options for enhancing your gear.
However, given the inherent complexity of this mechanism, you may not yet have fully grasped the intricacies of its various functions and mechanics, particularly its core feature, Transfiguration, and the associated material, Tuning Prism.
To ensure you can fully leverage Horadric Cube to upgrade your gear and boost your character’s overall power in the new expansion, IGGM has prepared this dedicated guide covering both Transfiguration and Tuning Prisms.
What is Transfiguration?
Before introducing Transfiguration, it is essential to first clarify that Horadric Cube itself is a crafting system; it allows you to combine various D4 items to craft new gear or enhance existing equipment.
More specifically, Horadric Cube’s functionality encompasses three key areas: gear modification, item transmutation, and rune crafting. Transfiguration falls under the first category: gear modification.
Transfiguration infuses a fully crafted, top-tier piece of gear with a random modification result, such as granting a random, powerful affix or a special buff, and may even allow the item to exceed its standard statistical caps.
Furthermore, when applied to an amulet, Transfiguration offers an additional special bonus: it adds a random Legendary Aspect affix to the item.
Therefore, if you have a sufficient budget and wish to maximize the benefits of Transfiguration to empower your character, we recommend checking out IGGM Diablo 4 items for sale to directly acquire legendary amulets.

By doing so, once the amulet undergoes Transfiguration, it stands a high chance of possessing two Legendary Aspects, allowing you to become significantly stronger and progress through the current Season or Lord of Hatred content with greater ease.
What are Tuning Prisms?
Tuning Prisms actually come in two distinct varieties: Entropic Tuning Prism and Kullean Tuning Prism, each serving a slightly different purpose.
First, it is important to note that after applying Transfiguration to your Diablo 4 gear, there is an extremely high probability that they will enter an unmodifiable state, rendering them immune to any further modifications.
The function of Entropic Tuning Prism is to mitigate this risk by eliminating both the worst and the best possible outcomes of Transfiguration process.
While this guarantees that your gear will not be destroyed, it simultaneously ensures a 100% probability that the item will end up in an Unmodifiable state.
As for Kullean Tuning Prism, it can be thought of as an upgraded version of Entropic Tuning Prism. It ensures that the attributes generated through Transfiguration are of legendary quality, while simultaneously allowing the item to remain in a modifiable state.
Generally speaking, the probability of encountering a high-risk outcome during Transfiguration is actually extremely low; consequently, the practical benefit offered by Entropic Tuning Prism is largely negligible, unless you are absolutely determined to avoid any risk of permanently damaging a specific piece of gear.
However, from a practical standpoint, you would typically either simply replace the item with a new one or wait until you have farmed a spare copy of the gear before attempting Transfiguration.

It is worth noting that there is currently a bug affecting Kullean Tuning Prism: if you possess a legendary amulet and attempt to Imprint its aspect onto another amulet that has already been processed using this prism, the original bonus legendary affix on the target amulet will vanish and cannot be restored.
Theoretically, you should still be able to perform subsequent modifications on the newly modified amulet; however, the current game mechanics are causing this process to malfunction.
We hope that Diablo 4 developers will address this issue in a future patch to ensure a smooth and reliable Transfiguration experience.
How to farm Tuning Prisms?
The methods for obtaining the two types of Tuning Prisms are essentially identical, including completing War Plans, defeating World Bosses, and more. Though the drop rate for Kullean Tuning Prism may be lower.
Among these methods, War Plans is particularly noteworthy, as it is also one of the new mechanics introduced in Lord of Hatred.
The essence of this system is to create a personalized endgame event schedule for you; you can add up to five distinct endgame events to it, stringing them together to form a complete reward-farming route.
The events supported by this system include Nightmare Dungeons, Helltides, The Pit, Lair Bosses, and more. Furthermore, the system automatically generates the specific Diablo 4 materials required to access these activities, such as Nightmare Sigils.
Upon completing all the content outlined in your preset War Plans, you can return to Command Table in the main city Temis, to claim War Chests as your ultimate reward, which may contain the rare Tuning Prism.
Transfiguration worth a try
Even with the multitude of ways to upgrade items in Diablo 4, utilizing Transfiguration on your gear remains an incredibly powerful strategy, as it allows you to obtain attribute boosts at no consumption.
Therefore, once you have assembled a complete and optimized gear setup, and have stockpiled a substantial quantity of the necessary materials, IGGM strongly recommends that you put your gear to the test within Transfiguration system.
However, a word of caution: if you have not yet acquired any Tuning Prisms, you should ensure that you no longer need to perform any further Imprinting or other adjustments on a specific piece of gear before proceeding with Transfiguration.
This is because the process of farming and imprinting aspects with sufficiently high rolls onto your gear to achieve an ideal build often consumes a significant amount of time.
If you perform Transfiguration prematurely, you will no longer be able to use the Imprinting system to re-roll or refresh aspects on that item.
We hope this guide from IGGM regarding Transfiguration and Tuning Prisms helps you optimize your gear and character progression in your future Diablo 4 adventures! Happy gaming!
