HashNet is a multi-currency mining company that combines AI, automation and on-chain payouts. These are the questions people ask most often about how it works.
What is HashNet?
HashNet is a multi-currency mining company founded by Ian Issa in 2022. Instead of mining a single coin, it runs hardware across several networks and pays customers in Bitcoin.
Which coins does HashNet mine?
Six coins across four algorithms:
- SHA-256: Bitcoin (BTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
- Scrypt: Litecoin (LTC) and Dogecoin (DOGE)
- Equihash: Zcash (ZEC)
- kHeavyHash: Kaspa (KAS)
What is the Alpha Engine?
The Alpha Engine is HashNet’s proprietary system for switching mining hardware between coins that share the same algorithm. It monitors conditions across all six coins, 24 hours a day, and moves hardware to the most efficient coin in its group at that moment.
How fast does it switch?
In roughly 12 milliseconds (company-reported), with no manual input.
Can any machine mine any of the six coins?
No. Mining hardware is built for a specific algorithm, so a SHA-256 machine cannot mine an Equihash coin. The Alpha Engine only switches within each algorithm group — for example, SHA-256 machines choose between Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.
Why mine several coins instead of one?
HashNet gives three reasons. Spreading across networks softens the impact of difficulty adjustments, upgrades and halvings on any one network. Machines can move to the most efficient coin in their group rather than sitting on one by default. And mining several coins supports the operation of several networks.
How are customers paid?
Whatever coin is mined, the output converts to Bitcoin. That Bitcoin is paid on-chain to customer wallets every eight hours.
Can customers verify their payouts?
Yes. Payouts land on public addresses. With a wallet address and a public block explorer, anyone can confirm the Bitcoin has arrived, without needing HashNet’s permission.
Is everything HashNet does recorded on a blockchain?
No, and the company does not claim it is. The money movement is on-chain: mining-pool inflows and payouts to customer wallets. The Alpha Engine’s internal switching decisions are not recorded on a blockchain.
Is HashNet licensed?
HashNet Infrastructure LLC is licensed in the UAE. The company issues an invoice for every purchase, and its hosting partners operate under their own facility licences in the jurisdictions where its machines run.
Does HashNet use physical robots?
No. When HashNet refers to robotics, it means software autonomy: the Alpha Engine running continuously and acting on decisions without waiting for a person. There are no machines on a factory floor.
Do people oversee the automation?
Yes. HashNet’s engineers define the limits the Alpha Engine operates within, monitor it through alerts and reviews, and can step in at any time.
How does HashNet use AI beyond coin switching?
Its models watch machine data — temperature, power draw, fan speed, error rates and performance — for the small patterns that come before failure. AI also helps balance load, manage cooling and spot energy waste.
How does HashNet choose where to mine?
On more than power price. HashNet weighs grid reliability, cooling climate, local regulation and the source of the energy. It chooses sites on high-reliability grids and, where available, lower-carbon or surplus power.
Has HashNet received any recognition?
HashNet was featured among the top five multi-crypto miners in ZyCrypto’s 2026 review of the sector.
